Pastor Jeff Bealmear-

In his twenty-fourth year of ministry, Pastor Jeff begins his first year as lead pastor of the Monticello United Methodist. An ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, his passion has been, “Since lost people matter to God, then lost people must to matter to us.” A world-traveler who has served in missions and ministries in the Philippines, Israel, Jordan, Honduras, Brazil, Mexico, Kenya and Cuba, Pastor Jeff desires for those in his flock to take serious the Christian calling to change this world one soul at a time. He, along with his wife, Lisa, have helped to establish several feeding programs for children in the Philippines along with assisted in overseeing the constructing and establishment of a Christ United Methodist Church in Upper Paatan, Kabacan in the Philippines through Christ Church, Fairview Height, IL.

Pastor Jeff has been recognized through the Illinois Great Rivers Conference with the Denman Evangelism Award ( 2012) along with several Church Growth awards and accolades.   As he begins his twenty-third year in the ministry he and Lisa desire Monticello UMC to continue in its growth in their journey in evangelism, holiness and revival. “It brings Lisa and I no greater pleasure than to see a person come and be touched by Jesus and embrace their true understanding that they are a Son and Daughter of the King. As members of the Church, we are the hands and feet of Christ entrusted with the transformation of the world.” Jeff and Lisa have been married for twenty-eight years and are the parents of Jenny and Kyle and are celebrating their first grandchild - Olivia.

Kathy Brown has served as Director of Music Ministries and Director of After School Children’s Ministries since 2000.  She attended Illinois State University and received degrees in both Music Education and Music Performance (1989).  She spent thirteen years as an Elementary/Middle School / High School choral music instructor and teaches private voice and piano lessons.    She directs the Monticello Summer Singers, a community supported civic chorale, and is an active adjudicator and choral clinician throughout Illinois.

Through her work as the Director of Music at MUMC, Kathy is helping to ensure that the church’s long tradition of high-quality music endures.  She coordinates music for MUMC’s worship services and conducts the Sanctuary Choir and the Children’s and Youth Choirs.  Kathy also helps teach Sunday School, acts as the Music Leader for summer VBS, and sings in the Mixed Vocal Ensemble.  While at MUMC, Kathy introduced the Second Sunday Concert Series (2008).  This program brings a variety of free concerts to our sanctuary six times a year including diverse musical artists representing all styles of music!  Kathy also serves as Coordinator for the R.O.C.K., the church’s weekly after school program.  This program welcomes about 50 youth to the church each week for faith-based fun, fellowship, music, and lessons.

Kathy and her husband, Mike, are parents to four amazing and wonderful children.  When not singing, teaching, or conducting, she enjoys cooking, reading and travel.

Mary Catherine St. John has served as the Director of Family Ministries since May of 2016. She graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business. After working at the YMCA as Youth Director, in charge of the nursery, the after school program, the skating rink and other programs, and establishing a youth program for 6th-12th graders, she returned to school to teach English. She taught High school English for 9 years. She continued her work with youth groups through other YMCA locations and church. Mary Catherine is thrilled to be a part of the MUMC family. While working with Kathy Brown on the JKF program, she is also working with Sunday School classes, the nursery, children’s church, VBS, families and special events for kids and families.
 
Mary Catherine is the wife of Pall and mom to three incredible kiddos. In her extra time, she enjoys attending her kids activities, subbing in the local school, cooking and playing golf.

Natalie McDowell is serving in the newly created role of Director of Youth Ministry. She attended Millikin University and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Her nursing career has been focused on caring for infants/children, young adults and school based nursing. She has been employed the last 10 years by Macon-Piatt Special Education District as a special needs RN within the Monticello School District.

Natalie has many years of volunteer experience in Children and Youth Ministries, both at Monticello UMC and her former church, First United Methodist Church of Sullivan. Through her work as the Director of Youth Ministry at MUMC, Natalie coordinates Methodist Youth Fellowship for High School and Middle School, plans Youth outings, conducts Youth Bible Studies, plans and accompanies Youth on Retreats, and teaches High School Sunday School class. She also plans and accompanies Youth and the Youth Leadership Team on an annual Summer Mission Trip, plans and conducts a local mission-based Middle School Vacation Bible School class, and collaborates with church members to incorporate and support the youth of the church.

Natalie has been married to her husband, Brian since 1991. The couple has 2 wonderful young adult sons, Andrew and Austin and a lovely daughter-in-law, Sarah.

In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, running/working out, being with friends and rooting for her favorite teams-The Illini, The St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers!
